Class of 2021:  We are so Proud of You!

This was the message written in golden balloons on the wall of the school hall this week as we welcomed back our Year 13 and Year 11 students to collect their results.  The sense of joy, celebration and pride felt by everyone was tremendous.

Our tag line at Lawnswood School is ‘Embed confidence; fuel ambition.’ and we work hard to live by this mantra.  We want the absolute best for every single student and we know that students will only go on to do their absolute best when they are confident in themselves and ambitious for their future.  The Year 11 and Year 13 students have demonstrated remarkable self-confidence, resilience and belief over the last two years.  They have trusted and believed in the team of dedicated staff that we have at Lawnswood, and they have truly been ambitious for themselves and each other.

There are so many individual stories of joy, and triumph over adversity, that we could share with our community and we hope to do that on a regular basis over the next school term, so that our younger students can really celebrate and understand what they are capable of and the exciting opportunities their future holds.

Our Sixth Form has always been a very special place, where the highest level of pastoral care teamed with exceptional specialist teaching has consistently resulted in outstandingoutcomes year on year.  We always perform well in comparison with other local sixth form providers and we frequently rank in the top 5% nationally for specific subject attainment and progress.

The outcomes at Key Stage 5 this year have maintained that consistent high quality, and our Year 13 students should feel very proud of their achievements:

39% of all the A level and CTEc outcomes were at a grade A*-A, with 38% of students achieving 3x A levels at AAB, or better, in facilitating subjects allowing them access to the most competitive University places.

Here are just a few of the outcomes and destinations achieved by individual Year 13 students:

Most importantly for all our students, 94% of those that applied to University are going to their firm choice.  The others have all secured their insurance choice.  We cannot wait to hear what they go on to achieve next and look forward to welcoming them back to inspire the next generation of sixth formers.

As one group of inspirational young people leaves our sixth form we look forward to welcoming the next group, and we know that we will be joined in September by the most high-attaining students we have ever seen at Lawnswood School.

The celebrations did not stop on Tuesday, but have continued today, as we had the pleasure of awarding Year 11 with their GCSE outcomes.  Tears of joy filled the school hall this morning and we are so proud of the unbelievable dedication that Year 11 showed towards securing their grades in the most challenging of circumstances.

31% of all the grades achieved were at a grade 7 or higher, with 39 individual students achieving all grade 7s or higher in all of their GCSEs.

There are therefore far too many amazing individual success stories to mention but here are just a few of the top performances:

To say that we are proud of everything that our students have achieved this year is an understatement.

Well done to the Class of 2021, we cannot wait to see what you do next!
