Year 12 Focus on Your Future
Year 12 students have had a fortnight focussing on their next steps. Students have spent a week of researching universities and career options, planning and writing personal statements, and finding out about apprenticeships.
On Monday we visited Leeds Beckett University for a talk on Student Finance, a personal statement workshop and a group tour of the facilities including student accommodation. On Tuesday students participated in apprenticeship talks in school and engaged with our start programme to explore their skills and career options. We finished the day with lunch together but unfortunately couldn’t show off our skills in rounders and football due to the weather. On Wednesday we had an exciting range of taster sessions delivered by academics from the University of Bradford before registering onto the UCAS website. For a day of team building and laughter, we enjoyed a day at Alton Towers and finished the week on Friday with a visit to Northumbria and Newcastle University with lots of karaoke on the way home.
Students were definitely ready for a weekend of rest before they all went off to their work experience placements for one week. We welcomed them back on Monday 8 July for a busy two weeks before we break up for the summer holiday.
