Introducing the Sixth Form Team
Post 16 - Pastoral Leader
As Post 16 Pastoral Leader I oversee pastoral care within sixth form, supporting students from their initial applications to sixth form, right through to their final results day and beyond. On a day to day basis, this can include working on attendance, giving guidance on the 16-19 bursary and planning and implementing our unique enrichment programme. In addition, I offer support on a wide range of issues including Year 13 UCAS applications, the Year 12 progression module, work experience and answering student and parent queries on many topics. I am very proud to be part of the Sixth Form team here at Lawnswood and particularly value working together with parents and carers to help our young people be the best they can be, as they work towards their adult lives in the ‘real world’.
Post 16 Leader, Teaching and Learning
I am proud to be involved in the development of the sixth form students at this crucial and exciting time of their lives. Being responsible for their teaching, learning and their academic progress is a great privilege. I came to Lawnswood over eight years ago to be part of the Personal, Social and Citizenship team before moving on to the sixth form as part of and then Head of the Social Science department where I teach Sociology and Psychology.
In my present role I work alongside the Post 16 leaders to ensure the effective day to day running of the sixth form. I am also responsible for the tutorial and study programme which includes participating in the wider curriculum such as EPQ, Progression Module, mentoring, internships, reading buddies and many other opportunities to help equip our students with the knowledge, skills and experience for their journey after Lawnswood.
Post 16 Leader, Partnerships and Recruitment
Lawnswood has given me the opportunity to progress my career in many different roles. Previously I've been a Director of Student Leadership, Associate Assistant Headteacher and Subject Leader for Physical Education. My new position of Post 16 Leader with the responsibility for Partnership development is very exciting and will further diversify my skills, picking up new knowledge within the post 16 sector.
The role encompasses building relationships with external providers, working in collaboration with our partner sixth form provider Ralph Thoresby and developing aspects of the curriculum to enable Lawnswood to consistently deliver the excellent outcomes as previously seen. It is exciting, rewarding and a superb opportunity to challenge my self in a new aspect.
